B.A.S.S. SETS KIDS' CONTEST

Youngsters age 7 to 14 will have an opportunity to cast for prizes and get some help from B.A.S.S. pros during the Wrangler/B.A.S.S. National Federation Championship at the LancerLot June 30.

The kids' competition will be limited to the first 200 participants who show up for a 9 to 10 a.m. registration, said Lyn Wheatley, national director of the federation. Competition begins at 10 a.m. with a championship round tentatively set for 12:30 p.m. Winners will receive a savings bond. There is no entry fee.

On hand to give tips will be pros Guy Ecker and Cliff Craft, who will be in the state practicing for the B.A.S.S. Classic on the James River at Richmond Aug. 23-25. Also participating is Dr. Greg South, a tournament fisherman from Richmond.

Fishing tackle will be provided for youngsters who will be casting to hoops in a pond. All participants will be given a bag of tackle and other goodies, Wheatley said.

Daily weigh-ins during the June 28-30 tournament at the LancerLot are scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. and are open to the public free of charge.
