NAMES ON CAMPUS-NEW RIVER COMMUNITY COLLEGE

The CENTER FOR THE LEARNING DISABLED at Dublin's New River Community College received an honorable mention for exemplary programs by the Virginia Council for Learning Disabilities.

The LEARNING RESOURCE CENTER received the Golden Shoestring Award from the Community College Association for Instructional Techology for its use of video stores to distribute telecourse materials.

Faculty Humanitarian Awards were awarded to MELVIN G. MABRY, an electricity and electronics professor, DEBBIE LINEWEAVER, a training specialist in the Continuing Education office, and BILLY FRIEND, an instrumentation professor.

\ THEODORE R. ALBERTS, associate professor of welding technology, was elected to the Roanoke Chapter of the American Welding Society's executive committee and as chairman of the educational unit.

Business fraternity Phi Beta Lambda elected officers for the 1990-91 academic year: PAM AKERS, president; RUTH BLEVINS, vice president; ANGIE THOMAS, treasurer; SHARON ROOP, secretary; GALE COLLINS, reporter; and GAYLE HALL, parliamentarian.
