W.VA. SKI RESORT GOES ON THE AUCTION BLOCK

A West Virginia ski resort that drew winter sports enthusiasts from many parts of Southwest Virginia will be sold at auction June 29 at the Raleigh County courthouse.

Highland Ski Ltd., operator of WinterPlace Ski Resort, has been unable to repay its 1987 note from First Community Bank of Princeton, W.Va., and the bank has foreclosed.

The original note was for $800,000. Representatives of Highland and the bank would not say how much is still owed. Unseasonably warm weather this season was believed to have cut into revenue.
