FORMER BANK OFFICIAL PLEADS GUILTY

A former Dinwiddie bank branch manager pleaded guilty to bank fraud and embezzlement for taking more than $4 million from 70 accounts over a six-year period.

Sharon G. Baskerville, 34, of Colonial Heights entered the plea agreement Monday in U.S. District Court in Richmond. She faces 15 years in prison, $750,000 in fines and the possibility of court-ordered restitution when she is sentenced in September.

Authorities said Baskerville engineered more than 100 elaborate transactions to transfer customers' money into several fake accounts by altering records at First Colonial Savings Bank.
