HISTORY TEACHER GETS CLINCH COLLEGE AWARD

Edward L. Henson Jr., who has taught history at Clinch Valley College since 1958, has received the chancellor's award for public service at the University of Virginia branch school.

Henson was dean of students at the college from 1961 to 1965, and chairman of its history department from 1968 to 1976. He has served on the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities and Public Policy board, is active in the Southwest Virginia Historical Association and gives regular lectures to high school classes, civic clubs and church groups.

In 1987, he received the chancellor's award for outstanding teaching. - Southwest bureau
