Council plans to vote next month on the $104,800 budget, which was raised to six figures in order to cover the costs of the town's new part-time police officer.
Councilman Maurice Turner said the officer's salary, car and uniform costs will be offset by the court fines the officer collects.
The part-time officer, Lynn G. Frith, began to patrol Boones Mill last fall after residents voiced concerns about safety and traffic control.
"We were without one for a couple of years or so," Turner said, adding that the previous officer did not pass a state test and was not replaced until recently.
Town Council plans to review the proposal in a public hearing at 7 p.m. July 16. The council then will vote whether to accept the proposed budget at its regular meeting, scheduled to begin a half-hour later.
