ASK THE WAITER WHO ANSWERED DOOR

WHO REALLY stalked and murdered the unsuspecting Haysoms on what was to become the darkest night of their lives? Was it the "towel-wrapped" Elizabeth? Was it the rosy-cheeked Jens, who "had no reason to jeopardize his scholarship"? Or could it have been both of them, with a third person staying back in Washington setting up their alibi?

In following your newspaper's reports on Jens Soering's murder trial, I for one have read enough about the way the initial investigation was carried out by Bedford County officials. What has concerned me for a very long while is why this battle of wills is allowed to go on and on between the defense attorney and Elizabeth Haysom (one in which he has clearly been the loser).

Since the real burden of proof rests with the prosecution, why hasn't the prosecuting attorney subpoenaed the room-service waiter for questioning? Surely, that hotel in Washington keeps a record of staff assignments. Perhaps I'm being naive, but wouldn't the eyewitness testimony of this person be just as, if not more, conclusive than that of an handwriting expert?
