\ BELLSOUTH ENTERPRISES has named three employees of BellSouth Communications Systems in Roanoke to the company's President's Council, which honors top sales and service personnel. Named to the council were Bob Williams, a senior account executive, John Foote, director of systems engineering, and M. Skip Weddle, a corporate systems manager. Williams has been with BellSouth for three years; Foote has been with the company for five years, and Weddle is a 10-year employee.

EDWARD ADKINS of Acme Business Machines Inc. has received a quarterly Mita Copier Outstanding Sales Ability award. Adkins has been with Acme since 1975.
The dealership also received the Dealer of the Year award from Mita for outstanding sales leadership and marketing performance in the Mid-Atlantic region.
\ FRED J. HELFFENSTEIN, a facilities engineer, recently retired from Hercules Radford Army Ammunition Plant after more than 28 years of service. He worked at the Hercules Bacchus Works facility in Magna, Utah, for six years before coming to the Radford plant in 1967.
\ ARTHUR KRAUS has been named a Liberty Mutual Top Life Insurance Producer for his performance in 1989. Kraus joined the company in 1963. He is a sales representative in the personal sales department in Roanoke.
\ HOMESTEAD MATERIALS HANDLING CO. of Roanoke has been named a 1989 dealer of excellence by Clark Material Handling Company of Lexington, Ky. This honor represents the company's highest award to dealerships.
\ W.W. BOXLEY CO. of Roanoke has been honored by the National Stone Association with two First Step awards for quarry beautification at its Piney River and Stuarts Draft plants, and a Good Neighbor award for the company's achievement in community relations. The association's About Face program encourages quarry beautification reclamation, as well as reclamation and community relations projects. Boxley, with headquarters in Roanoke, operates seven quarries and two distribution facilities in Virginia.
\ I.N. McNEIL ROOFING & SHEET METAL CO. INC. has been named a master contractor for 1990 by Firestone Building Products Co. of Indianapolis, Ind., for its consistent, high-quality installation of Firestone roofing systems on commercial and industrial buildings. The company is one of 100 independent contractors, licensed by Firestone in the U.S. and Canada, to receive the certification.
\ FRANK T. ELLETT, president of Virginia Truck Center in Roanoke, was one of 17 nominees for the American Truck Dealers/Business Week Truck Dealer of the Year award during the annual convention and exposition of the American Truck Dealers division of the National Automobile Dealers Association in Phoenix, Ariz. Business Week magazine, in cooperation with the Columbia University Graduate School of Business, judged the contest. Nominees were selected for business success and civic contributions. Ellett also is an officer with the Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce and a member of the board of trustees of the Roanoke Museum of Fine Arts.
\ PAM BERG, president of Pam Berg Consultants Inc., a Roanoke public relations firm, has been admitted to the Counselors Academy of the Public Relations Society of America.
\ DILLARD PAPER CO. has announced the Roanoke winners of its 1989 Chairman's Council and its President's Council. John Gilliam and Dallas Peoples were named to the Chairman's Council, a group of salesmen who produce an annual gross profit above the minimum requirement set by the company chairman.
David Bousman, Dick Oliver, and Allen Jones were named to the President's Council, which recognizes the top sales producers in each Dillard sales region.
\ AVIS CONSTRUCTION CO. INC. of Roanoke has been selected as a high performance builder by the buildings division of Butler Manufacturing Co. The award recognizes Avis' outstanding market penetration. Avis sells and constructs Butler Pre-Engineered Building Systems.
\ R.C. WAGNER has joined Quality Printers Inc. of Bristol, as sales manager for the Roanoke division. Wagner will be in charge of the sales office in Roanoke. He formerly was employed by Houck Advertising Inc. for 30 years.
\ GREGORY J. HALEY, formerly an assistant attorney general for Virginia, has joined the Roanoke law firm of Gentry Locke Rakes & Moore as an associate. Haley is an honors graduate of Hampden-Sydney College. The Roanoke native earned a law degree in 1984 from the College of William and Mary, Marshall Wythe School of Law.
