Rev. Otto Sumner, age 70, passed away Thursday, June 21, 1990 at his residence. He was born in Campbell County, Va., March 13, 1920, a son of William Henry Sumner and Naomi Burcham Sumner. He was retired from the Virginia Department of Highways. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary B. Sumner; two daughters, Mrs. Judy Leonard, Salem; Mrs. Carolyn Worrell, Hillsville; one son, Curtis Wayne Sumner, Herndon; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Cox, Pulaski; Mrs. Blanche Griffin, Colonial Heights; Mrs. Violet Galyean, Riner; four brothers, Leo Sumner, Paul Sumner, both of Hillsville; Glen Sumner, Vinton; Lloyd Sumner, Riner. Funeral service will be Saturday, June 23, 1990 at 12:30 p.m. at the Blue Ridge Chapel with the Rev. Frank Koger and Rev. Robert Jackson officiating with interment in the Monta Vista Memory Gardens. Rev. Sumner will be placed in the Blue Ridge Chapel Friday at 4:00 p.m. where the family will be receiving friends at the church from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Blue Ridge Chapel Building Fund.
