OBIT RUNIONS, J.

James P. Runions, age 97, of Pearisburg, died Thursday, June 21, 1990. Mr. Runions was a retired employee of the Leas-McVitty Co. He was born in Giles County on September 25, 1893, and was the son of the late John D. and Fannie Hammons Runions. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Fletcher Runions. Surviving are three daughters and a son-in-law, Gladys R. Bailey of Pearisburg; Nina Bowles of Ripplemead; and Lake and Martin Caldwell of Pearisburg; four sons and daughters-in-law, James (Doc) and Mary Runions of Pearisburg; Victor M. and Margaret Runions of Pearisburg; Roy L. and Audrey Runions of Dallas, Ga.; E. Ray and Catherine Runions, Kernersville, N.C.; 27 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren, and 25 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Givens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Billy Brown officiating with burial in Birchlawn Burial Park. Friends may call at the Givens Funeral Home Friday from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
