GLADE ROAD UPGRADE OK'D BY STATE BOARD

The state Transportation Board has approved the location and design plans for improving a 0.8-mile section of Glade Road in Blacksburg. The action was taken at a Thursday meeting of the board in Richmond.

The plans call for widening and straightening the road, from just west of Boxwood Drive to University City Boulevard, improving the road's intersections with Shadow Lake Road and Old Glade Road, and constructing turn lanes and signals at the Old Glade Road and University City Boulevard intersections.

Construction of the $1.6 million Glade Road project is scheduled to begin in the summer of 1991.
