EASTERN STAR TO MEET IN ROANOKE

A convention of the Grand Chapter of Virginia, Order of the Eastern Star, will bring about 1,600 people to Roanoke on May 16-19, 1993, according to Martha Mackey, executive director of the Roanoke Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau. The OES members attending the convention will have about 800 hotel or motel rooms for four nights, and the total economic impact of the convention is estimated at $720,000, she said.

Mackey also reported that her bureau was host to a film crew from the Travel Channel, which filmed a Roanoke Valley segment for a Great American Vacations program to air on cable television in December. Festival in the Park, the City Market and an interview with artist Eric Fitzpatrick will be featured.
