FLAG-BURNING FUSS: A RED HERRING?

THE UPROAR over flag-burning has all the earmarks of a red herring to divert the public's mind from our really serious problems.

If this country cannot withstand the burning of a piece of material (probably woven by sweatshop labor in Mexico or Korea) by a bunch of kooks, then we are in worse shape than we realized. LEONARD E. NESTER ROANOKE
