Manuel, a native of Buena Vista, had been the Indians' minor-league hitting instructor. Molinaro has been offered Manuel's former position.
Royals owner Ewing Kauffman's proposed $34 million bailout of co-owner Avron Fogelman could cost him millions more because he will assume obligations to the team.
The club announced the proposed loan to Fogelman on Friday, with Fogelman putting up his 50 percent share of the team as collateral.
If Fogelman does not repay the loan, full ownership of the team will revert to Kauffman, who founded the Royals and is committed to keeping the club in Kansas City. Fogelman has run into financial trouble in his real estate dealings.
If the loan is finalized, the team will be put up for sale. Kauffman, however, will reserve the right to make the final bid.
