CHRISTIANSBURG MAN SHOT NEAR INN

A Christiansburg man was in stable condition at Montgomery Regional Hospital after being shot twice early Saturday morning outside of the Huckleberry Inn.

Donald Whitlock, 28, of Christiansburg, was shot once in the arm and once in the leg at about 12:30 a.m., said Gary Brumfield, an investigator with the police department.

Brumfield said had not been able to question Whitlock as of Saturday evening.

The gunman fled in a small, silver station wagon that had several antennas and was traveling west toward Interstate 81, Brumfield said.

A manager at the inn, who asked not to be identified, said the shooting took place in the parking lot and the shots could not be heard from inside the restaurant. Few customers were at the inn when the shooting occurred, he said.
