\ Marcellus F. (Mark) Tinnell, age 79, of Roanoke, died Saturday in the VA Medical Center, Salem, Va. He was a retired Lt. Col. with the U. S. Army and a member of Virginia Heights Baptist Church where he was a member of the Carter Bible Class. Surviving are his wife, Madeline E. Tinnell, Roanoke; daughter, Trudi T. Smith of Brooklyn, N.Y.; son, Gordon Marc Tinnell of Edwardsville, Ill.; three grandchildren, Michael, Richard and Robert Tinnell. Funeral services will be held at Oakey's South Chapel 2:00 p.m. Monday with Dr. Carl Collins officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or Virginia Heights Baptist Church. Friends may call at Oakey's South Chapel from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday.
