LONGTIME GILES TEACHER DIES IN BLACKSBURG

Macy L. McLaugherty, a former Giles County schoolteacher who taught for more than 47 years, died in a Blacksburg hospital on Saturday. She was 95.

McLaugherty, who retired from Giles County Schools in 1964, had an elementary school named in her honor and was a member of the Pearisburg Baptist Church.

She is survived by three sisters, Mrs. H.B. McLaugherty of Belspring, Mrs. W.G. Cunningham of Plant City, Fla., and Mrs. William G. Leece of Tazewell.

The funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m., at the Givens Funeral Chapel.
