RICHARDS, GLAY W.

Glay Wheeler (Dick) Richards, age 67, of Roanoke, died June 24, 1990 at the V.A. Hospital in Salem. Born in Pocohantas, Iowa on December 14, 1922, Dick was the son of the late Paul Milton Richards and Mable Wheeler Richards. He served with the Coast Guard during World War II and later went on an expedition to Antartica, serving 21 years in all with the Coast Guard. Surviving are his wife, Tillie Nolen Richards; sister, Pauline Richards Koehler; aunt, Margaret M. Maehr, both of Colorado Springs, Colo.; nephew, Donald P. Koehler, Ph.D., Denver, Colo.; a niece, Karyl L. Milanec, Urbana, Ill.; three great-nephews; three great-nieces; a stepdaughter, Margaret Price Davison, Roanoke; stepgrandsons, Bloice C. Davison, Roanoke; Daniel C. Davison, Alexandria; also surviving are a host of other dear relatives and friends. Deceased is nephew, Lt. Alan G. Koehler, U.S.N., formerly of Oak Harbor, Wash. A military memorial service will be held on Tuesday evening at 7:30 at Oakey's South Chapel with Chaplain Cecil Irwin officiating. There will be no public visitation. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the V.F.W. Arrangements by Oakey's South Chapel.
