PASSERBY SHOOTS FOOT OF GIRL STANDING BY ROAD

A 17-year-old Roanoke girl was shot in the foot Sunday evening for no apparent reason by someone who drove by in a brown Buick and fired a gun, Roanoke police said today.

Sabrina Lavogia Tyree of the 2500 block of Hanover Avenue Northwest was talking to a man in the 1800 block of Dupree Street Northwest at 5:50 p.m. when the brown vehicle drove past and she heard a gunshot, authorities said.

The bullet penetrated her shoe and foot.

Tyree told police there was no reason for anyone to shoot her. No arrests have been made.
