NAMES ON CAMPUS-RADFORD UNIVERSITY

CHARLES W. McNICHOLS, David Brown Associate Professor of Management at the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, will become Ted R. and John N. Dalton Professor of Business Administration in August.

McNichols is a specialist in information systems.i

He has published several books and articles, has taught at Clemson University and the Air Force Institute of Technology in Washington, and holds a doctorate in industrial engineering from Stanford University.

\ LIBBY BRADFORD of Elliston received the Mr. and Mrs. John S. Nye Scholarship for 1990-91 based on grades and faculty recommendations.

\ STEVE PONTIUS, chairman of the geography department, was one of 10 North American geography professors to receive a Distinguished Teaching Achievement Award from the National Council for Geographic Education.i

The award recognizes outstanding collegiate geography teaching in the United States and Canada.i

Earlier this year, Pontius received an Outstanding Faculty Award from the Virginia Council of Higher Education.

\ DAVE TUKEY, director of academic advising, has had two articles published - in the Journal of Communication and Religion and in Communication Studies.

\ A work by JERRY KREBS, art professor, has been selected for inclusion in the Three Rivers Arts Festival in Pittsburgh this month.i

The silver and garnet pin, "Roots Bloom Too," will be on display in an exhibit by the Carnegie Museum.i

Artists from eight states and the District of Columbia will be featured.

\ HALIDE SALAM, associate professor of art, had her collage "Proclamation of Israfil" selected for an open exhibit in Fairfax County.

\ Biology professors EUGENE GOURLEY and ZEKE ERSKINE have been awarded an $11,400 grant from the National Science Foundation to develop biology exercises using Macintosh computers. The exercises will supplement lectures and labs and encourage students to develop creative reasoning skills.

\ CLARENCE WHITE, management professor, received a $23,000 grant from the state Department of Education to serve as regional director for Future Business Leaders of America, an organization of high school business students.

\ ANNA FARIELLO, Flossie Martin Gallery director, had her multimedia work "Phases of the Moon" displayed in the Roanoke City Art Show at the Roanoke Museum of Fine Arts in April.
