However, because of crowded conditions at the elementary level, the following schools will be closed to transfers for the 1990-91 school year:
Margaret Beeks, Gilbert Linkous, Harding, Christiansburg, and Shawsville elementary schools and Christiansburg Primary School.
Children who have previously been given permission to attend these schools from outside the attendance area will be allowed to continue only if classroom size permits.
Their younger siblings will be accommodated at the same school only if space permits.
Each request will be handled on a case by case basis.
Requests for children to attend Bethel, Riner, Elliston-Lafayette, Belview, and Prices Fork elementary schools will be handled on case-by-case.
Transfers into these schools will be permitted only if student-teacher ratios at given grade levels allow for accommodation of such requests.
Requests should be submitted in writing to the superintendent of schools.
Questions concerning out-of-zone attendance should be directed to Judith B. Rutherford, supervisor of pupil personnel services, at the School Board office in Christiansburg.
