FUNDS HELP SISTER CITY BUY SCHOOL

The Nicaraguan city of San Jose de Bocay bought almost 2 acres of land earlier this year for a new school with $450 donated by residents of its American sister city, Blacksburg.

The San Jose de Bocay Sister City Committee is trying to raise $25,000 by November to start building the school during Nicaragua's dry season - the first three months of the year. So far, the group has raised $5,000. An individual has pledged a matching $5,000 if the group can raise another $5,000.
