VA MEDICAL CENTER RETIRED PHYSICIAN PAUL CANDLER DIES

Dr. Paul Kiser Candler, a retired staff physician at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Salem, died Saturday in Virginia Beach. He was 83.

A native of Cleveland, Va., Candler served at the VA Medical Center for 10 years before retiring in 1973 and moving to Virginia Beach.

He was a 1936 graduate of the Medical College of Virginia. He completed his internship at Norfolk General Hospital.

He practiced medicine for three years in Reedville before serving in the U.S. Army from 1941 until 1946. From 1946 until 1964, he was a general practitioner in Warrenton.

A graveside service will be held at noon today at Roseland Cemetery in Reedville.
