ETS OF ROANOKE WINS DOE RESEARCH AWARD

ETS International has won a $50,000 Department of Energy award for further work on its Limestone Emission Control System.

The system is designed to control emission of sulfur dioxide gas to reduce acid rain. The award under the Small Business Innovative Research Program is for evaluation of the system's ability to remove particulate matter as well.

ETS was one of 1,172 applicants for 170 grants. The company said successful completion of the first phase could result in a supplementary award of about $500,000.

ETS, based in Roanoke, provides pollution-control products and services. Its shares trade on the Vancouver exchange. - Staff report
