CHILHOWIE SCHEDULES SUMMER CELEBRATION

Chilhowie's third Summer Celebration will be held Saturday at the town recreation park from 9 a.m. until after the fireworks display around 11 p.m.

It will include flea markets, sale of baked goods, craft booths, relay races, games such as horseshoes and volleyball for all ages, and even a rubber duck race at 4:30 p.m. in the Middle Fork of the Holston River.

The activities are sponsored by the town and the Chilhowie Community Apple Festival Committee.

Musical entertainment, starting at noon, will feature Carrol Shores and Cabin Creek, the Trainstation Cloggers, Bluegrass Echoes, Tracy Puckett and the Virginians, H.B. Beverly and Tony Collins, Country Traditions and Susan Goodman.

The Chilhowie Rescue Squad will offer free blood pressure checks. The Chilhowie Police Department will hold a canine demonstration. The Smyth County Young Dairy Farmers will sell hand-dipped ice cream.
