RADFORD MAKES CHANGES IN GARBAGE COLLECTION

The city has implemented changes in its solid waste collection system. Effective immediately:

All trash must be placed at the property edge on the street or alley by 7:30 a.m. on the day of collection. Crews will not backtrack to collect trash put out later in the day.

All trash must be in cans not more than 32 gallons in capacity with tight-fitting lids. Weight must not exceed 75 pounds. These restrictions will help reduce blowing paper, animal scavenging and back injuries to city employees.

Yard waste must be separated from household trash. The New River Resource Authority has mandated separation in anticipation of a fall composting program.

Brush, household goods, yard waste, tires, batteries and other debris collection will be provided after an application is made to the billing and service office, 619 Second St., and any appropriate fees are paid.

Trash for dumpster collection must be placed in the dumpster.

For information, call 731-3602.
