\ THAXTON - William Henry Holdren, age 75, of Thaxton, died Friday, June 29, 1990, in Bedford County Memorial Hospital. He was born in Bedford County on February 16, 1915, a son of the late Emmett Smith Holdren and Flora Scott Holdren. He was a retired employee of Rubatex Corporation, a member of Epworth United Methodist Church, and the Thaxton Ruritan Club. He is survived by his wife, Katherine Booth Holdren; two sons and daughter-in-law, Arvid William and Judith O. Holdren, Forest; Emmett Booth Holdren, Evington; two brothers, Robert W. Holdren, Richmond, Nelson E. Holdren, Bedford; five sisters, Mrs. J. Richard (Gertie) Michael, Mrs. Atwell H. (Lucille) Wilkerson, Mrs. R. Buford (Eleanor) Toms, all of Bedford; Mrs. Owen W. (Mabel) Rhodenhizer, Lynchburg; Mrs. M. Everett (Jane) Jones, Virginia Beach; one grandson, Jason Eric Holdren, Evington; one step-granddaughter, Teresa C. Stinnett, Forest. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Epworth United Methodist Church with the Rev. Emory N. Tarpley, Sr., officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family suggests those wishing to make memorials consider the Bedford Life Saving Crew or the American Cancer Society, 9 E. Church Avenue, Roanoke, Va. 24011. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Saturday at the Carder-Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford.
