N.J. MAN CHARGED WITH CRACK POSSESSION

A 20-year-old New Jersey man has been charged with possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute after Roanoke police recovered a bottle containing 34 rocks of crack cocaine that was thrown from a vehicle.

Patrol officers were chasing a vehicle out of the Lincoln Terrace housing project on Liberty Road about 7 p.m. Thursday when they saw a bottle thrown from the passenger window. Officers stopped the vehicle and recovered the bottle.

Timothy Godwin, 20, of Paterson, N.J., was being held in the Roanoke Jail in lieu of $20,000 bond, authorities said.
