PARKWAY CHASE ENDS IN CAR CRASH

A 15-mile car chase Friday evening on the Blue Ridge Parkway sent one man to a hospital, a dispatcher said.

The chase began near U.S. 460 about 8:40 p.m. The accident occurred about 20 minutes later when the pursued car turned on its side.

The dispatcher said park rangers were in pursuit of the car at the time.

Ed Clark, the investigating ranger, would not comment on why the car was being pursued or on any other aspect of the accident. He referred all questions to the parkway superintendent, who was not available.
