That's why HCA Lewis-Gale Hospital will be manning the Lost Children's Area located at the entrance to the fairgrounds.
Lewis-Gale is also providing Teddy bear identification tags for children that provide space for the child's name and the parents' names on the back of the tags.
Last year, dozens of children were reunited with parents or friends at the Lost Children's Area, estimated David Middag, director of marketing for Lewis-Gale Hospital.
Middag suggested that the Lost Children's area is also a good place for family members to rendezvous after they have attended separate activities on the fairgrounds.
At the same location, Lewis-Gale and the Salem Rescue Squad will provide first aid for the inevitable assortment of scrapes and bruises.
"Last year, we had a number of cases of heat exhaustion," said Middag. This year, fairgoers can ward off the effects of the heat by stopping by the first aid station for water, Gatorade or a seat in the shade, he said.
If you need medical attention or you've misplaced a child, look for the large Lewis-Gale banner at the fair's entrance.
