The camp, similar to a pilot program successful in Richmond last summer, will be staffed by trained counselors and recreation specialists from Caroline Furnace facility near Luray.
Caroline Furnace is a major conference center for Lutherans in Virginia and runs a full camping program annually.
The Roanoke camp will be held from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. It will cost $60 for the first child in a family and $30 for each additional child.
Jay Mizeras, day camp coordinator, said activities will include visits to the Lutheran Home for the elderly and to the Mill Mountain Zoo, the Science Museum and City Market and water play at a city park. Bible study and crafts also are planned daily.
