Warner has raised $803,000 and has nearly $1.1 million in the bank for his bid for a third term, according to reports filed with the Federal Election Commission. His only opponent, independent Nancy Spannaus, has raised $38,000 and has $241 in cash.
Warner returned a $1,000 contribution to the National Rifle Association last month after the pro-gun group blasted him for supporting a ban on assault weapons.
"They didn't ask for it," Warner press secretary Philip A. Smith said. "Warner decided he'd be more comfortable returning it."
