A jury last month found the former University of Virginia honors student guilty of two counts of first-degree murder for killing his girlfriend's parents in April 1985.
Jurors recommended the maximum sentence possible: two life terms in prison. Circuit Judge William Sweeney will set the sentence once a background report is completed on Soering, 23.
Derek and Nancy Haysom were killed in their Bedford County home. Their daughter, Elizabeth Haysom, is serving a 90-year sentence for plotting the slayings.
