Henry Clay Grubb, age 86, of Austinville died Wednesday, January 30, 1991, in the Pulaski Community Hospital. Mr. Grubb had lived in the Newtown Community of Austinville for 62 years and had retired from the New Jersey Zinc Company in Austinville after 42 years of service. He was a member of the Max Meadows Pentecostal Holiness Church. Mr. Grubb was born July 2, 1904, the eldest of Walter S. Grubb and Georgia Etter Grubb's twelve children. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Thompson Grubb and his son, Charles Edward Grubb, as well as four brothers and three sisters. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Billy (Frances) Thacker, Mrs. William (Betty) Littreal, both of Austinville; a special brother-in-law, Mr. Foye Thompson of Austinville; two sisters, Mrs. Lomie (Dolly) Robinson and Mrs. Peyton (Katherine) Frye, both of Wytheville; two brothers, Mr. John Grubb of Wytheville; Mr. William "Bill" Grubb of Elkton, Md.; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 3, 1991 at 2:00 p.m. at the Austinville Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Phillip Martin and the Rev. Gary Cope officiating. Interment will be in the Berea Christian Church Cemetery. Friends may call upon the family at the homes of the daughters in Austinville. The family will receive friends at the Reese Funeral Home Saturday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The family suggests that those who prefer may make memorials to the Lead Mines Rescue Squad. Reese Funeral Home in Austinville is in charge of the arrangements.
