Thomas Edward Otey, age 59, of Salem, died Thursday in a Salem hospital after a lengthy illness. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He is survived by his wife, Margaret T. Otey; one daughter, Rayetta Swaim, Roanoke; two sons, Raymond and William, both of Denver, Colo.; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Beverly Kennedy, Salem; Carolyn Otey, Pensacola, Fla.; four brothers, Earl Morris Otey, Santa Maria, Calif.; John I. Otey and Gerald N. Otey, both of Radford; Michael L. Otey, Salem; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at Sherwood Memorial Park Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. James G. Holloman officiating. Friends may call only from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Monday at the John M. Oakey and Son Funeral Home, Salem.
