Mrs. Winona Dowe Monroe, age 77, formerly of Salem, passed away in Bethesda, Md. on Thursday. Survivors include one son, Percy L. Monroe, and daughter-in-law, Jeanette Monroe, Washington, D.C.; grandchildren, Percy L. Monroe III, Lake Hiawatha, N.J.; Andrea Monroe (Michael) Green, North Brunswick, N.J.; Renee Monroe and Joy Monroe, Boonton, N.J.; five sisters, Mrs. Frances Brown, Mrs. Lenora Taylor, Salem; Mrs. Geraldine Whaley, Roanoke; Mrs. Lula Webb and Mrs. Frankye Warren, Washington, D.C.; three brothers, Robert Dowe, Columbus, Ohio; Douglas Dowe and Alfred Dowe, both of Roanoke; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. The remains will be placed in the Shiloh Baptist Church, Salem, on Monday where the family will receive friends from 7:00 until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the church with the Rev. E.H. Glaspie officiating. Burial will be in Williams Memorial Park. The family will meet at the Dowe Home, 411 Mount Vernon Avenue, Salem. Hamlar-Curtis, Morticians.
