Teddy Roosevelt Broyles, age 72, died Saturday morning in a Roanoke hospital. A native of Monroe County, W. Va., he is the son of the late Samuel O. and Minnie Crotty Broyles. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, World War II and is a retired police officer with the Giles County Sheriff's Department and had served as police chief of the Narrows Police Department with thirty-five years service in police work. Surviving are his wife, Thelma Meredith Broyles; one son and daughter-in-law, David Eugene and Debbie Utt Broyles of Narrows; one grandson, Matthew Broyles, Narrows; a nephew, Joe Broyles, Pearisburg. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2:00 p.m. in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel, Pembroke, with burial in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. Officers of the Giles County Law Enforcement Departments will serve as pallbearers and graveside rites will be performed by Giles County veterans organizations. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 6:00 to 9:00.
