Wayne Martin Ingram, 24, of Woolwine, and Jeffrey Harlan Harbour, 24, of Stuart, were arrested on charges of first-degree murder and use of a firearm in commission of a felony, Sheriff Jay Gregory said Saturday.
The body of Timothy Dean Collins, 24, of Stuart, was found Tuesday in the parking lot of High Point Baptist Church on Virginia 682. Investigators believe Collins was involved in a drug deal and that he owed money to one of two men, Gregory said.
At the murder scene, authorities found two .44-caliber Magnum shell casings that appeared to have been fired from an automatic weapon, Gregory said. Thursday night, sheriff's investigators searched the home of one of the suspects and found three Remington .44-caliber Magnum shell casings in the back yard, he said.
The casings were taken to a crime lab in Roanoke, which concluded that all five casings were fired from the same .44-caliber automatic weapon. No gun has been found, Gregory said.
Investigators arrested Harbour Saturday morning and Ingram Friday night, after Commonwealth's Attorney Anthony Giorno authorized arrest warrants for the two, Gregory said.
Both are being held in Patrick County jail in lieu of $300,000 property bond or $150,000 cash bond.
Preliminary hearings for both are scheduled for March 15 in Patrick County General District Court.
