CHRISTIANSBURG - During the early morning hours of Sunday, February 3, 1991, Virginia Chubb Bishop passed from this life to eternal life with her Creator. Mrs. Bishop was the wife of the late Rev. Elmer A. Bishop Sr. She was a faithful member of the Asbury United Methodist Church, Christiansburg, Va., and was employed by New River Community Action. Among those who survive and cherish the many fond memories of her cheerful life are six daughters, Elinor B. O'Bryant, Savannah, Ga.; Antoinette McNeill, Fayetteville, N.C.; Gladys Claytor, Reno, Nev.; Judith Diggs, Christiansburg; Lynn Melton, Manassas; Constance Bishop, Christiansburg; five sons, Elmer A. Bishop Jr., Christiansburg; Raymond Bishop, Christiansburg; the Rev. James A. Bishop, Harrisburg, Pa.; Nathaniel L. Bishop and Floyd (Jack) Bishop, both of Christiansburg; 17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two nephews and two nieces. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Pauls United Methodist Church, Christiansburg, Va., with the Rev. Theodore Smith officiating. Burial will be in the C.C. Williams Burial Park, Roanoke, Va. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 at the Asbury United Methodist Church, 490 Stuart St., Christiansburg. The family suggests memorials be made to the Building Fund of the Asbury United Methodist Church, c/o 9 Depot Street, Christiansburg, Va., 24073. Claytor, Alexander and Penn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
