CHILHOWIE - William Lee Bonham, age 87, died Saturday, February 2, 1991, in the Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon. He was a native of Smyth County and lifelong resident of Chilhowie. He was a lifelong member of the Riverside Baptist Church where he was active in church affairs and was chairman of the board of trustees of the church and cemetery. He worked enthusiastically in the upkeep and beautification of the church cemetery. He had taught the Adult Mens Sunday School class for many years. He is survived by his wife, Mary Virginia Mountain Bonham; one foster son, Bobby Jones, Chilhowie; one half brother, S. Ray Carter, Chilhowie. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Riverside Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Andrews officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Riverside Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Monday at the Williams Funeral Home, Chilhowie. The body will be taken to the church one hour before services.
