Edward Lee Alger of Elm Avenue Southwest told police he was walking on Elm Avenue about 5:50 p.m. when three men approached him and crowded around him. They pushed him to the ground, and while two men held him, the third searched his pockets, he said.
The men took $190 and a medicine card and left him, headed in the direction of downtown Roanoke, police said.
