POLICE GET ASSETS FROM DRUG ARRESTS

The Roanoke Police Department recently received a check for $13,466.25 - its share of assets seized in drug arrests over the past year.

The check recently was presented to Police Chief David Hooper from Montgomery Tucker, U.S. attorney for the Western District of Virginia.

The money came from combined efforts by federal, state and city authorities to stem the flow of drugs in Roanoke.

Much of the money and property seized has come from arrests and raids aimed at dealers of crack cocaine. Since the highly addictive drug infiltrated Roanoke about three years ago, Roanoke police have made hundreds of arrests.
