FORMER ADMINISTRATOR ADMITS DRUG CHARGE

Former Nelson County Administrator George Krieger pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor marijuana charge Friday and apologized for embarrassing the county.

"It's been a nightmare for me and my family," he said after the hearing in Nelson County Circuit Court. "The worst thing is I embarrassed the county. I hope the citizens can accept my apology."

Krieger, 40, faces a maximum of 12 months in jail and a $2,500 fine. He pleaded guilty to possession of a small amount of marijuana for distribution without profit.

A felony charge of manufacturing marijuana for distribution was dropped.
