STUDY FINDS FELONY DOOR REVOLVES

Nearly one out of five people arrested and charged with committing a felony were released from custody and rearrested for a similar felony offense before going to trial, the Justice Department said Sunday in a first-time study.

The study said defendants charged with murder are less likely than those accused of other felonies to be released before trial.

Accused murderers were released at a rate of 39 percent. Rates of release for people arrested and accused of other felonies include: 55 percent for rape and 69 percent for drug sales.
