BASSETT MAN SLAIN

A 27-year-old Bassett man was stabbed to death Saturday morning at a Martinsville residence, Martinsville authorities said today.

Ronald G. Brooks was found at the door of a home in the 1300 block of Cardinal Lane about 11:30 a.m., according to Lt. Dave Edwards of the Martinsville Police Department.

Brooks had two puncture wounds in his chest and apparently died between 4:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., Edwards said. It is unclear why Brooks was at the residence.

An autopsy was scheduled to be performed today.
