MOTORIST SAYS HE WAS ROBBED ON CITY STREET

Roanoke police have charged a Southwest Roanoke man with robbing a 35-year-old man at gunpoint as the man slowed for traffic on a Southeast Roanoke street early this morning.

James Robert told police he was driving on Eighth Street and had slowed for traffic when a man dressed as a woman opened his passenger door and got in the car.

The man produced a small revolver and ordered Robert to drive to a nearby alley, police said. He took $155 in cash from Robert and then forced him to drive back to Eighth Street, authorities said.

Robert identified a man to police, who took him back to the area after he reported the robbery.

Paul Matthew Holt of the 500 block of Allison Avenue has been charged with robbery and using a firearm in the commission of robbery.
