Mrs. Jean Patterson Givens, age 65, died Saturday, February 9, 1991, as the result of injuries from an automobile accident in Las Cruces, N.M. Her husband, Richard M. Givens Sr., also died as a result of the same accident. Mrs. Givens was born July 25, 1925, in Roanoke, Va., the daughter of the late Charles Bernard Patterson and Nathlie Baker Patterson. She was a graduate of Roanoke College and a member of the Mooresville-South Iredell Chapter of the American Association of University Women. She was a member of the Mary Slocumb Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Bentonville Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, both in Mooresville, N.C. Mrs. Givens was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Mooresville where she was a member of the choir. She is survived by a son, Richard (Dick) Givens Jr., Charlotte, N.C.; a daughter, Ms. Kathleen Givens, Statesville, N.C.; three brothers, Bernard Patterson, Louisburg, N.C.; Nathaniel Patterson, Roanoke, Va.; William Patterson, Birmingham, Ala. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 14, at First Presbyterian Church, conducted by Dr. S. Edwin Lewis and Dr. Fred A. Coates. Interment will follow in Glenwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Cavins Funeral Home, Mooresville. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mooresville Christian Mission, P.O.
