In the fourth quarter, VF said it lost $9.9 million, mainly because of plant closings and reorganization of the administrative staff at its Lee Co. subsidiary. Sales for the quarter were $688 million, up 4 percent from $663 million in 1989's final quarter.
VF also said it has signed an agreement to acquire most of the assets of Health-tex Inc., a Cranston, R.I., maker of children's clothing and owner of a Danville plant. - Staff report
