NORTH CROSS BEATS ROANOKE CATHOLIC

Josh Mersky sank a free throw with one second remaining to give North Cross a 48-47 Virginia Independent Conference basketball victory against Roanoke Catholic on Wednesday night.

Mersky finished the game with 18 points for the Raiders (5-19 overall, 4-10 VIC). Rusty Holman added seven points and 11 rebounds. Scott Sartini led the Eagles (1-17, 1-13) with 16 points.
