During the supervisors' January meeting, the cable television service received considerable criticism, mostly about the time it's taking to extend service into new areas.
Cable company representatives cited a tight economy and the lack of loans for the work as reasons for the slow service.
Council also has seven public hearings scheduled for the 9 a.m. meeting. The highway hearing, which begins at 9:30, will concern establishing priorities for secondary roads for the 1991-92 fiscal year.
The landfill hearing, at 10:30, is to consider prohibiting grass clippings and other compostable yard wastes from the landfill. Supervisors are concerned about prolonging the life of the landfill and are considering other methods to recycle the clippings and other organic matter.
The other hearings include requests: to expand Clayton Mobile Home Sales in Cloverdale; to locate a lawn and farm equipment business on U.S. 220, north of Fincastle; and to locate a business that will manufacture, sell and service truck accessories and equipment on U.S. 11 in Cloverdale.
Council also will hear a request for a proposed Crisis Intervention Center for up to 14 youths on the same property as the Roanoke City Nursing Home on Coyner Springs Road.
Council will consider amending the subdivision ordinance to allow for administrative review of subdivisions with fewer than five lots. The amendment also would change the definition of a subdivision so that future development would comply with the county's subdivision ordinance.
